Current Research

Antibiotics, Diet, and the Human Gut Microbiome

Crystal studies how antibiotic exposure reshapes the human gut microbiome and systemic metabolism. Her work shows that antibiotics reduce microbial diversity and disrupt key metabolic pathways. She also identifies diet-dependent factors that influence recovery following antibiotic use. This research highlights the complex interplay between medication, nutrition, and microbial ecosystems.
