Encode Project Contributors

Two MSTP alumni, Brad Bernstein (entered ’92, graduated ‘99) and Michael Bender (entered ’82, graduated ’90) were contributors to the ENCODE (Encyclopedia of DNA Elements) project, published in the September issue of Nature. Brad Bernstein (entered ’92, graduated ‘99) received the 2012 UW Medicine Alumni Association Alumni Early Achievement Award. Dr. Jay Rubinstein

Dr. Jay Rubinstein (entered ’82, graduated ’88) was recently quoted in the New York Times regarding the use of an iPhone app as an alternative to a digital hearing aid. Dr. Rubinstein is director of the UW’s Virginia Merrill Bloedel Hearing Research Center, as well as a professor of Otolaryngology and Bioengineering.
