Evolutionary Analysis of Tumor Heterogeneity

Allie applies evolutionary theory to understand why cells within the same tumor accumulate mutations at different rates. By combining phylogenetic structure with mutational signature analysis, she distinguishes increased cell division from elevated mutation rates. This approach reveals how tumor lineages evolve under selective pressure. Such distinctions are critical for interpreting how tumors adapt over time.
